Evernote App Review
Evernote lets you make notes, capture photos, create to-do lists, record voice memo and then tag everything you’ve added so you can easily find it later. Evernote has quickly become our favourite app for saving ideas, capturing learning and recording assessment.
The featured image above shows the interface of the Evernote app homescreen. As you can see you are presented with a few options. The thumbnails across the top show your most recent notes and there’s a green stacked menu at the bottom to view your notebooks, tags, places and all notes.
The top left-hand side of the screen has three icons. The first is used to create a new note which gives you the option to upload an image from your camera roll, type text or record a voice memo. The second icon is a camera symbol that lets you capture a photo using the iPad’s camera. The third icon gives you the option to scan a document so that you can have a digital copy that’s easily shared or stored in your Evernote account.
All of your notes can be organised by tags or placed into notebooks. The search bar at the top makes it easy to find anything you’ve added and prevent you from losing that vital piece of paper.
Using Evernote in the Classroom
- Create pupil profiles to collect and store evidence of learning
- Use a notebook for collaborative projects using the sharing feature
- Replace the traditional notebook and record, share and assign work
- Using the places function, plan a fun, topical treasure hunt
Evernote could easily become the most used app in your classroom. It’s like a digital scrapbook or jotter which responds to the changing needs of the 21st Century classroom. Unlike other note-taking apps, Evernote allows you to easily sign in and out of individual accounts – which is crucial if you only have a few iPads to go around.
