Keeping a secure password is becoming increasingly important. Not only does it need to be secure but it’s highly recommended that you use a different password for every website and app. This ensures that if a service was to be compromised by hackers, they can’t use the breached data to login to your other accounts. The best way to fix this problem is to use 1Password: the free password manager that utilises a single master password to manage your data. Better yet, if you have Touch ID on your device you can unlock your data using your fingerprint.

Adding a new password to your 1Password account is straightforward and it involves three things: the URL or service name, the username or email and finally the password. The best way to create a secure password is to let the app do it for you. It will randomise a selection of letters, numbers and acceptable punctuation so that it can’t be guessed or hacked easily.

Storing your passwords like this only makes sense if they’re easy to access when you need them. Luckily, with the introduction of iOS Extensions, certain features of apps can now be accessed from within other apps (see below).

This is especially important for 1Password as it allows you to unlock your passwords whenever you’re in an app that has a sharing option, such as Safari. To add the 1Password extension to your iOS device, click here for a step-by-step guide.

1Password is available for iOS, Mac, Android and Windows, but only the mobile versions are free. Data can be synced securely between platforms using iCloud or Dropbox.
