Roman Ruins App Review
Roman Ruins for iPad ticks all the boxes when it comes to exploring ancient Roman sites. You have high quality images, lots of reliable information and a map showing you where each one is. There are over 350 Roman sites indexed and they all display multiple fullscreen photographs so you can clearly see what’s going on in each picture.
The app is neatly organised and finding a particular site is really easy. You can browse by country, A-Z, map or just by looking through the gorgeous image gallery. The main area of the app that you’ll likely use is the Collections. This is where the app curates various guides like Best Preserved, Hidden Gems and Sites by the Sea.
Also in Collections is Virtual Exploration — the very best feature of the app. This allows you to virtually explore around 40 ruins as if you were actually there. You can turn and tilt the iPad as if you’re looking through a window, moving in and around the ruins 360 degrees.
Overall, Roman Ruins does exactly what it says it does. It’s easy to use, has lots of interesting content and delivers on a hugely important aspect — making learning enjoyable.
