Adobe Ideas App Review
Adobe produce a lot of design-related apps for computers including their most successful: Photoshop. As you can imagine, they have also expanded into the world of iOS with Adobe Ideas. We like to think of Adobe Ideas as a very basic drawing app that has a few key features that make it stand out from the rest. The first is the ability to work in layers. Similar to Photoshop, you can layer up images so that certain elements stack on top of each other. This is great for tracing over a photograph as you can later remove the layer underneath and see only the traced result on top. It’s also effective for creating a layered digital painting so you can work on a separate layer without altering any previous markings.
Another neat feature of Adobe Ideas are the colour themes. They extract five colours from an image giving you a lovely palette to work with. So if you wanted to paint a landscape or an object, you can first take a photograph and let the app provide you with suitable colours to use.
The only problem with Adobe Ideas is the inability to add text. Although not necessary, it does seem like it should be included in the app. Being able to annotate an idea would be so beneficial if your sketch didn’t provide enough information. That being said, it’s a great free app from Adobe so it’ll likely get updated in the future with more features.
